5 Steps to Convert iTunes Songs to MP3
First make sure your conversion settings are set to create MP3s. Here's a full tutorial on how to do this , but the quick version is: Open iTunes Preferences , click Import Settings in the General tab , and then select MP3.
In iTunes, find the iTunes Store songs or songs you want to convert to MP3s and click on them. You can highlight one song, a group of songs, or an album at a time (select the first song, hold down the Shift key and select the last song), or even discrete songs (hold down the Command key on a Mac or the Control key on a PC and click on a song).
When the song you want to convert is highlighted, click on the File menu in iTunes
Click Convert (in some older versions of iTunes, look for Create New Version)
Click Create MP3 Version. This converts iTunes songs to MP3 files for use on other types of MP3 players (they can still be used on Apple devices). It actually creates two files: the new MP3 file appears next to the AAC version in iTunes.
